So as I have talked to our members I found that most people do some type of Dilithium grinding even if its not to hit the 8k mark for the day, but to at least get some. I wanted to give a couple examples of what I do that is efficient, fairly easy, and quick so we can form a list and pick and choose what we do. Anyways here is my list:
1. Reputation Tier projects - rewards: 340 & 140 = 480 total
2. Satellite Repair Mission - rewards: 480
3. Dilithium Mining - rewards: vary from 0-1500 (If you do this during the daily mining event then you get 50% more Dilithium. I normally get 1000 but with the event I tend to get 1500.)
4. Investigate Officer Reports (repeatable) mission & Klingon Nebula missions - rewards: 960 Dilithm per run (Officer Reports has a 30 minute cooldown and any foundry mission that meets the criteria of it can be ran to complete it)
5. STF Elite missions - rewards:960 per successful mission
6. Starfleet Academy Lore - reward: 480 (if you goto the STO wiki site and search "lore" in the serach field you can find the answers to every question in this mission)
If you guys have any other good ones post em!

What I usually do (if I don't have any other specific plans is:
1. Refresh my Tier projects - Both Omega and Romulan for 960 total put I assume these won't be available once hitting tier 5 so I only have 10-12 more days to do them then I'll have to use their other turn ins
2. IOR with Klingon Nebula - 960 plus loot for EC. I try to make sure I have IOR always accepted when it is available to get the cooldown started. That way when I run this right after I log in I can accept it again right after I turn it in.
3. Dilithium Mining - then I run over to the asteroid and run the mining mission (unless there is a Dilithium hour coming up then I wait for it) - 1 or 1.5k I'll know after I log in next and run it if it is like others that if accepted for a long enough time if it is re-runnable after turn in, but I can't see why it would not be like others
4. Deferi dailies - Since I'm already in the neighborhood I pop up and do these because they give 2400 for all three and I can usually run them in under half an hour. And if like others I have the mission accepted already when I log out I can repeat it again right after I turn it in. In case you don't run these they are given by Ambassador Surah - Rescue Deferi Captives (ridiculously fast), Emancipation (fast ground mission) and the three-part Aiding the Deferi
5. IOR x2 - 960 + 960 for 1920 Since I accpeted the mission again when I finished it earlier I fly back to ESD and run the Nebula (or other farming mission that qualifies) then repeat it because IOR will be available again when I finish the first one. But even though I can finish IOR in about 5 minutes when the loot no longer drops I make sure to take 15 minutes to finish it so I don't help bring the average time down and remove it from IPR eligibility.
So running all that will give me 7240 (if I hit the asteroid during a mining hour I get 7740) and it takes roughly an hour (maybe a little more). Then STFs or anything is on top of that.

Running the IOR with farming missions may take a bit more time now. As of today's patch the ships fight back. from the patch notes: "Foundry NPC groups set to Timid creature will now fight back when they take damage"
not a fun surprise to find out the hard way (wish I'd read that patch note first)

It is still doable but it takes a lot longer. I can burn one of the groups down pretty fast if I pre-load my cooldowns and lay into them. If your dps is lower you may want to team up. I had one group that split up and spread out too fast (I forgot to hit an aoe cooldown) so I ended up chasing them all over. Make sure you do not go into the nebula (going to need those shields)
For quick dilithium grinding I'd suggest doing them in a group for max safety and speed. Running it solo for the drops was not terrible, but I knew what to expect (found out the hard way in my Klingon side character) but once the drops stop coming and you still have 4-5 waves to go it is a bit tedious alone.

Well, they are making another change that is going to affect not only dilithium grinding but collecting Fleet Marks. I saw in the Tribble patch notes last night (not sure when this is planned to go live) that they are removing the repeatable IOR mission for the foundry. So you can no longer repeat that mission for 960 D each half hour. Instead foundry missions will award dilithium based on the average time to completion. I don't know how they plan to scale that. This also meant that if the IOR mission was your primary source (or at least significant source) for fleet marks you will no longer be getting those.
I can see their point on removing the fleet marks because I suppose you really shouldn't get those for something that can be so easily done solo (and even afk). But I think they should be added to STFs - something you have to group and are often run by fleets.
actually, just checked, looks like it goes live today:
The Foundry daily missions have been replaced. * The existing daily missions have been removed. * Now, all qualifying Foundry missions will automatically reward a scaling amount of Dilithium and skill points/expertise. * Dilithium will be rewarded based on the average playtime of the mission. * All spotlight missions will reward the same as a qualifying mission, with two exceptions: Once every 24 hours, the first spotlight mission completed in that time frame will get a bonus 1440 Dilithium. Once every 24 hours, the first spotlight mission completed in that time frame will get a scaling amount of Energy Credits, based on the player's level.

They are seriously screwing with the system so much lately it barely makes me want to play until they get it all sorted out. I just read a post on the forums by DStahl explaining why all this was occurring but left many questions to be answered. Read more here: goo.gl/BsvLT

So..we just need 490 more members!
I ran Klingon Nebula last night to see how much dilithium it rewarded. It was in the 600's. I don't know what that mission's 'average completion time' is that determines that number but I did it in 20 minutes (with a good few minutes afk for cooldowns). So as long as too many other Tac officers don't try to bring that number down so it looses status as qualifies for rewards, it's repeatable. And king of gives an idea of the low-end dilithium reward for foundry missions.
